The mission of the Shalom House Art Program is to encourage self-expression through the visual arts for people living with psychiatric disabilities. Our goal is to provide a safe, supportive environment where participants can freely explore and express ideas, learn new skills and discover their strengths and abilities.

Through the experience of making, exhibiting and sometimes selling their work, individuals gain confidence, motivation and self-esteem.
Our program focuses on the creative potential inherent in each individual.

Those living with mental illness are often defined by their disability rather than their ability. The Art Program strives to break down barriers and to help remove the stigma that can separate those with mental illness from the community at large.
